Ice skating
Montello’s ice skating arena will re-open for the season on Tuesday, September 6, and will run through March 16, 2023. Skating is available on weekdays from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and on weekends from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. On October 8, skating will also be available on Saturdays. Admission is $6, and skate rentals are available for $6. There are a limited number of skate aide walkers for the disabled. The arena will be closed on Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day, but will remain open on the other days.
In addition to the ice skating rink, Montello is home to a variety of cross country ski trails and ski slopes. Visitors can rent equipment and skis from local rental shops to get the most out of their winter trip. It’s a great activity for families and groups. Ice skating in Montello can be found at the Moose Sherritt Ice Arena on County Road 75 (Broadway) across from the Monticello hospital. This rink has public skating hours, men’s spring hockey league games, and Learn to Skate programs. It’s open to the public and offers lessons for all ages.
