Goffstown is a small town in Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, United States. It has a population of about 18,577. Goffstown is located near the Piscataquog River. It is also home to Saint Anselm College. Its landmarks include the Main Street bridge over the river and the Goffstown Public Library.
Saint Anselm College

Goffstown Field Complex
The Town of Goffstown is currently seeking proposals for the development of a new sports field complex. The first phase of the project includes construction of a large rectangular field, drainage, parking lot and exterior improvements. The fields will also include athletic surfaces. Once completed, the complex will include a field house and a playground.
The complex is located off of Route 114 and accessed from Route 103E. The access road is on the north side of the property owned by Granite State Telephone. It is approximately one mile from the telephone company. Parking is available across the street. The Goffstown Field Complex is open year-round.
Getting to the Goffstown Field Complex is easy and quick. The nearest major roads are I-89 South and 101E. Once there, turn left onto Route 13 South. The road will be marked with a popcorn stand on your right. There is a flashing yellow light at the intersection. The courthouse is on the left.
If you prefer to walk, you can use the Goffstown Rail Trail. It starts at Factory Street and sneaks behind neighborhoods. Along the way, it gives you glimpses of the river far below. From the trailhead, you can walk east or west. The trail is a little rough, but passable.
Main Street bridge over the Piscataquog
The Piscataquog Rail Trail begins from the Hands Across Merrimack pedestrian bridge and heads west to Goffstown. This trail is a great place to hike or bike and passes through Grasmere, Pinardville, and Goffstown. The Manchester portion of the trail is paved, while the Goffstown Rail Trail is primarily gravel. The trail has recently undergone a 50 percent improvement, and new parking areas are expected to be completed in the coming weeks. Additionally, crossing lights will be installed on the Goffstown side of the trail this winter.
The Goffstown Historical Society and Museum is located in a two-story building that was used as a general store in the early 1800s. This museum is free to visit and features hundreds of items from the town’s early days. The museum also features an 800-square-foot model train layout. Visitors are invited to tour the museum and the restored one-room school house, located 1.5 miles west of the Village on Route 114.
The project is expected to cost $1.1 million, with 80 percent of the money coming from federal sources. The construction of the new bridge took four years and was made possible by a generous donation from the Singer family. The new bridge, which is expected to open in the summer of 2019, is the result of a community effort to improve the area.
The Main Street bridge over the Piscataquag in Goffstown has a history of serving the town’s residents. The town was first settled in 1630 and incorporated in 1701. By 1790, the town was part of the Massachusetts Province. During the 1800s, the town was served by stagecoaches and horses. Today, this street is dominated by motor vehicles and other modes of transportation.

Goffstown Public Library
The Goffstown Public Library is located at 2 High Street in Goffstown, New Hampshire. The building was designed by Henry M. Francis & Sons and was built in 1909. The library was designed to be an elegant place to visit. The library is open seven days a week and offers many services and programs for the public.
The Goffstown Public Library Foundation is a not-for-profit organization that seeks to secure contributions for capital needs. The library will use the funds to purchase mobile shelving. This will give the staff the flexibility to rearrange the space and provide additional shelving capacity. The library is also partnering with the Parks and Recreation Department to hold various community events.
The Goffstown Public Library was constructed in 1909. The building was originally housed in the town hall, but in 1907 the library moved to a separate building designed by Henry M. Francis, an architect who had also designed small libraries in Rindge and Jaffrey. The building was formally dedicated in October 1909 and has served as the town’s main library ever since.
