Hector is a small town in northeastern Schuyler County, New York, United States. As of the 2020 census, the town had a population of 4,916. It is located west of Ithaca. The town was named for Hector, the firstborn son of the town’s founders.

Seneca Lake Wine Trail

The Seneca Lake Wine Trail, the largest wine trail in New York State, was founded in 1986 to draw visitors to the Finger Lakes. The trail consists of a collection of wineries dedicated to making premium wines using grapes grown within the viticultural region of Seneca Lake.

There are many wineries in the area, including the Atwater Estate Vineyards, Bloomer Creek Vineyard, Barry Family Cellars, and Red Newt Cellars. You can also enjoy local craft brews at Two Goats Brewing. Visitors praise the wine-tasting experience as well as the knowledgeable staff.

The Seneca Lake Wine Trail begins in Dresden, a small town on the western side of Seneca Lake, about halfway between Watkins Glen and Geneva.
