Walking

There are many ways to experience walking in Nebo. You can start and end your walk at the village. You can also reach the Mynydd Graig Goch, a mountain lake, by crossing the Nantlle Ridge. However, these paths can be difficult to find, especially in bad visibility. Parking areas are available near the lake. The entire walk takes about two hours.

One of the best ways to explore the mountain is by hiking up the Mount Nebo Trail. You can start at the Hollyfort car park, or from the Old School House. You can expect to see beautiful views of the surrounding landscape along the way. The trail then winds uphill to Fairy Wood. From there, you can continue along the Coillte forestry road, which winds around the slopes of Mt Nebo. The area is steep, but has some lovely views.

Parks

If you’re looking for an outdoor adventure, the Lake James State Park is right near Nebo, North Carolina. Located in Burke and McDowell Counties, this state park spans 3,743 acres and borders the 6,510-acre Lake James. The park is open to the public on weekends and holidays, and it’s a great place to spend the day exploring nature.

There are picnic tables at the trailhead and benches along the trail. No restrooms are available, but dogs are allowed. During the summer, the park is open to catch-and-release fishing. Trail bikes and motorized vehicles are not allowed. You can reach the park by driving west from Smithfield Township.

Mount Nebo State Park is a great place for hiking and camping. It features 14 miles of scenic beauty. There are 11 tight switchbacks and 18% grades in some places. Hiking trails are varied from easy to difficult, and cover forested areas to rocky bluffs. Some trails are as long as seven miles. There are also primitive campsites available at the park.
