Virgil Flaim Park
Virgil Flaim Park is a park in Lake City, Minnesota, USA that has plenty of things to do for the whole family. Located nearby the community center, library, and commercial core, this park has paved pathways, a large playground, basketball courts, and picnic tables. It also has a nice lawn area.
The park is located at 2700 NE 123rd Street in North Seattle. There are a number of places to visit near the park, including the beautiful lake. This small park is one of the best places to visit in the city with children.
Virgil Flaim Park was originally an elementary school playground. It was purchased by the Parks Department in 1987 after the school closed. It is named after the late community activist and Lake City resident, Virgil Flaim. Flaim had deep roots in the community and served as the Executive Director of the Lake City Community Center from 1985 to 2004. Since then, the park has added a skateboard park, relocated a basketball court, and added other amenities.
Joseph’s Estate Winery
Joseph’s Estate Winery was established in 1996 by Dr. Pohorly. The winery expanded with a new building in 2003, and now offers a full line of premium VQA wines, including Vidal Icewine. It also produces specialty wines, including sherry and port. Its tasting bar recently expanded as well. Since opening, Joseph and his wife, Kathy, have worked together and are actively involved in the local community. Joseph’s wines are also available in various gift shops.
One of the most popular events in Virgil is the Stampede. The annual event started with pony rides for the children of the community and has since expanded to include amusement park rides, horse shows, a mud bog run, and food vendors. Whether you’re looking for a family-friendly event or an opportunity to visit a historic farm, Virgil is an excellent choice.
The winery is family-owned and offers award-winning wines. The winery opened in Niagara-on-the-Lake in 1996. The family-run business was founded in 1979 by Dr. Joseph Pohorly, who grew up in Vineland, Ontario. Since that time, the winery has been producing premium award-winning wines.
The ten-acre winery’s first release was a red blend named Arancia Skin Fermented Gewurztraminer. It won double gold at the All-Canadians in 2022. The company’s Arancia Skin Fermented Gewurzeltraminer, and Pinto Gris style Rosato have won several awards.
In addition to wine tasting, visitors can experience a farm-to-table restaurant. The winery offers a walk-in tour at noon, 2pm, and 3pm. It also operates a seasonal Market Grill & Smokehouse on its property, where customers can enjoy a unique menu made from Ontario beef brisket and pulled pork sandwiches. It also serves fresh Atlantic oysters on weekends.
Bolita
If you’re looking for a fun, new place to hang out in Virgil, then you’ve come to the right place. Bolita, a newly opened bar from the same team behind CAFE TROPICAL and EL COCHINITO, serves unique craft cocktails and carefully selected wines. The menu also includes seasonal beers and non-alcoholic drinks.
Located in the former space of the Smog Cutter and Equal Parts, Bolita is a hip bar that serves craft cocktails in a mid-century Havana atmosphere. The menu features a wide variety of tropical drinks, as well as a few wine and beer selections. Guests can also grab some bar snacks.
Virgil Village is a historic area with numerous dining options and entertainment options. Since it’s a historic neighborhood, you’re sure to find something to suit your mood and budget. The neighborhood is home to a number of restaurants and bars, including the infamous Courage Bagels. The Montreal-style bagel shop, with a famously long line, is another staple on the street. This spot has even been named one of the best in California by the New York Times.
Pandemic pop-up restaurant
When the weather turns warm and the rain stops, there is a great chance that a pop-up restaurant will open in Virgil Village. This new venture will feature a menu of dishes such as roasted cabbage, albacore crudo, and dry aged burger. The pop-up is the brainchild of chef Javier Ramos, who has been working with the Konbi Group for the past two years. He recently left Michael’s in Santa Monica to pursue his own project.
The chef’s goal was to offer a taste of his own cuisine, which he did by opening K.R.E.A.M. Kimchi four months after the pop-up restaurant opened. He hoped that by doing so, he would stay connected with the community. A few months later, he had hired his first full-time employee, Chae Dickerson, who had worked in the food industry for more than a decade.
The firestorm over the restaurant’s closing has sparked broader conversations about the restaurant business. The employees at Sqirl hoped that this controversy will lead to a more positive conversation about the industry as a whole. After all, Sqirl had been open for more than two years, and had been a local favorite for over a decade.
Silversmith Brewing Company
Ontario’s first destination brewery is headquartered in a historic church in Virgil, the township of Niagara-on-the-Lake. It makes the best-selling Black Lager in the province. Visitors can pair their brew with local food from Norcini & Co.
A short drive from Niagara-on-the-Lake, Silversmith is located on the highway leading to Niagara-on-the-Lake. While Niagara is best known for its wine, this area has been experiencing a craft beer boom. The region receives over two million visitors each year, so there’s plenty of business for breweries. Craft breweries are thriving because they tap into local history and culture. The brewery itself was converted from an Anglican church, which dates back to 1894. A beer hall was added in 2011.
While visiting Virgil, be sure to try some of the new craft beer from Silversmith. The brewery recently opened taps, and it’s selling pints and bottles. The venue is located on 1523 Niagara Stone Road. If you’re looking for a relaxing night out with friends, Silversmith is worth checking out. In addition to their popular Black Lager, Silversmith also offers tasty appetizers, live music and a relaxing patio.
Alongside its own beer, Silversmith also supports Niagara College Teaching Brewery, one of the two brewing schools in the country. An aspiring brewer, Ian Evans, helped to initiate the partnership with Silversmith. In early November, he tapped the first cask beer brewed by the college students.
