Griswold Library

The Griswold Public Library is a free public library that serves the community. A board of trustees oversees the library’s affairs. All board members must be bona fide citizens of Griswold or unincorporated Sullivan County, and they must be at least 18 years old. The board is responsible for maintaining a record of its meetings, overseeing all library operations, and enforcing the conditions of gifts, bequests, and devises.

Patrons are expected to respect other library users and to use the library for its intended purpose. As such, the board has instituted a code of conduct for patrons to follow while using the Library. Patrons are encouraged to report any problems to the library’s director or librarian. This way, the library can address issues quickly.

The Board of Trustees is composed of five volunteer citizens. They are appointed by the mayor and serve six-year terms. In addition to overseeing the Library’s resources, the board also approves library policies and hires the Library Director. The board also promotes the library and advocates for its patrons within the community.

Patrons may use their personal electronic devices provided they abide by the library’s rules. Patrons are required to return materials in good condition, and they should not damage or deface materials. If a patron’s device is stolen or damaged, they must pay the full cost of replacement or repair. Patrons must also inform the library of any changes in their account information. In addition, they must pay any fines incurred while using library resources.
