Shingle Springs, California is located in El Dorado County, California. The population of Shingle Springs was 4,432 at the 2010 census. In the 2000 census, the town had a population of 2,643. The city is approximately 40 miles from Sacramento. It is located along Highway 50.
Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park
In the Sacramento area, you can experience history at its best at Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park. The park features riparian oak woodlands, a gold miners’ cabin, a replica of Sutter’s Mill, and daily interpretive programs. You can also explore the museum, which features native Americans, mining equipment, and period household implements.

Rubicon Trail System

A group of local residents, including Del Albright, decide to form the Rubicon Trail Foundation on September 1, 2004. The foundation’s mission is to raise monetarily to support trail improvements. Its members include Jeff Spellman, Dennis Mayer, Randy Burleson, Kevin Carey, and Rusty Folena.
The trail stretches across two counties. Placer County is to the east, and Eldorado County is to the west. The trail crosses a bridge over the Rubicon River, passing through Rubicon Springs. The trail is managed by both counties. It’s worth mentioning that the trail is partially in private property.
The Rubicon Trail is not for the faint of heart. The mountainous terrain is filled with twists and turns. Tires with healthy tread and three-ply sidewalls are highly recommended. As with any off-road driving experience, you’ll want to have a vehicle with at least a 35-inch tire. The rugged terrain and the breathtaking natural landscapes will stretch your mental and physical limits.
To make your trip as safe as possible, you should bring along spare parts and tools for repairs. You’ll also need extra water and food. Depending on how difficult the trails are, you might need to add skid plates on your Jeep. You should also consider buying a lower control arm skid plate to protect your front control arm mount.
To get to the trailhead, you’ll need to head north. The original Rubicon Trail route begins at Wentworth Springs. To the south of the town, you’ll pass the Loon Lake turnoff and go towards Gerle Creek. After about 5-6 miles, you’ll reach the Gerle Creek campground. From there, you’ll cross the Loon Lake and then head up to the Ellis Peak Trail, leaving the Placer County Basin Management Unit and entering the Tahoe National Forest.
A number of volunteers helped maintain the trails from the initial construction phase all the way to the present. Volunteers from the local community continue to help with trail maintenance. El Dorado County has begun work on a master plan for the Rubicon Trail System. They have also filled in some large holes on Wentworth Springs Road.
Mark Smith, the “Godfather of Rockcrawling”, started exploring the Rubicon Trail in 1951. Back then, the trail was mostly cobblestone and could be completed in a single day. However, over the years, vandalism and rocks rolled down the trail have made the trail more difficult.

The new hotel and casino will have 120,000 square feet of space, with 150 deluxe rooms and 25 suites. The hotel will also have a fitness center and pool. Guests will also enjoy bowling, golf simulators, and virtual reality gaming. The casino is owned by the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians.
The casino is also exploring opportunities to partner with Republic FC, a professional soccer team. The casino and the sports club share similar values and are exploring new ways to expand their reach. Both are committed to promoting health and wellness opportunities for their employees. They will also create special programs for children on their reservations.
Aside from the casino, the new complex will also include an amusement complex. Though its name hasn’t been finalized, it will have a wide variety of rides and games for all ages. The casino is also planning to add a sports bar with bar-top video slots. A massive 28-foot television will also be part of the complex. It will also have a grill and other amenities. Red Hawk Casino’s executives said that the new amusement complex will provide fun, safe, and enjoyable experiences for all guests.
