State Route 10

State Route 10 is a road that runs east-west in northwest Indiana. Its western terminus is at the Illinois state line, west of Lake Village, and its eastern terminus is at State Road 19 south of Etna Green. The road serves as the main thoroughfare for the towns of North Judson, Indiana and nearby areas.

Historically, the route of State Route 10 followed a portion of U.S. Route 41 and was a part of Indiana’s old numbering system. Before 1926, the current route of SR 10 was designated as SR 50, which ran from Wheatfield to Argos. However, the route changed in 1926 and was rerouted onto US 35 near Bass Lake. At that time, the route of State Road 210 was also decommissioned.

The sidewalk project along State Route 10 in North Judson continues to progress. The North Judson-San Pierre School Corporation recently approved an agreement with INDOT, and the town council is now working to confirm the details. Officials also plan to replace the fence at Pioneer Cemetery. Town council members approved a quote from White Fencing of $32,000 for the project, which will replace the chain link fence with an upgraded black aluminum fence. Installation is expected to start in two to three weeks, according to town manager Matt Brewer.

In November, a pickup truck crashed into a gate house at Bass Lake Beach. The driver, a 72-year-old man, was killed. The collision occurred near State Road 10 and State Road 39 North. In the aftermath, the town council approved a proposal to add signage to the intersection.

County Road 250 West

You can find a trailhead on County Road 250 West in North Judson at the intersection of Main Street and State Route 10. The trailhead is also accessible from County Road 250 West. If you drive, the trailhead is a half mile up on the left. There is a small parking area on the right side of the road.
