Nokomis is an unincorporated town on the Gulf Coast of Florida. It is located just south of Osprey and north of Venice. It has direct access to the beach at Nokomis Public Beach and Casey Key. The town’s population is 3,167 as of the 2010 census.
Casey Key Beach Shop
The Nokomis Beach Gift Shop is the next door to the Nokomis Beach Bait and Tackle Shop and is open daily. It has a wide selection of gifts and souvenirs at reasonable prices. Items include local novelty souvenirs, statues and figurines, beach towels, umbrellas and sun hats.

Unlike most Florida vacation spots, Casey Key is not a popular tourist destination. The beach is usually empty except for local residents. Serious surfers and fishermen also frequent the Venice inlet. The water here is sometimes stained with tannic acid from the mangrove backwaters. Fortunately, the tannin-stained water clears up on the incoming tide.
Casey Key is home to two public beaches. Nokomis Beach is open to the public, and it has a beautiful pavilion designed by Jack West of the Sarasota School of Architecture. The beach has coarse sand and mounds of shells. It is one of the best places in the Venice area to hunt for prehistoric shark teeth. It has miles of beach and few tourists.
Nokomis Beach is unincorporated, but has many amenities. The area is home to beautiful beaches, great shopping, and a vibrant arts scene. There are also plenty of restaurants and cafes on the island. It’s located at the southern end of Casey Key.
Nokomis Groves
Fresh citrus fruit is available at Nokomis Groves year-round. The 72-year-old orange grove property straddles Albee Farm Road and Edmonson Road. The area was shut down for several years during the COVID-19 pandemic, but developers hope to restore it to its former glory. In the meantime, the country store is open eight to five during the growing season.
Nokomis Groves offers a wide variety of fresh-baked pastries, frozen yogurt, and a great menu for movie night. It also sells packaged noodles and freshly baked pastas. The staff at Nokomis Groves is professional and friendly, and visitors have said that the prices are reasonable.
The company accepts mail orders and ships fruit year-round. Their varieties include Valencia oranges, juice oranges, and Murcott oranges. You can also join the Nokomis Club, which lets you choose your favorite fruits from the farm and enjoy them at a discounted price. There are three-, five-, and twelve-month memberships available, which include fruit delivery.
Pop’s Sunset Grill
Located on the Intracoastal Waterway across from Nokomis Beach and just north of Venice, Pop’s Sunset Grill is a beloved landmark of Western Florida. Locals and tourists alike love its casual atmosphere and friendly service. The restaurant is a member of the Sarasota Originals family and has been in business for 30 years.
The patio seating area has a tiki bar and 180-degree views of the Intracoastal Waterway. The outdoor seating area is complemented by fire pit tables. The restaurant also features an expanded gift shop. Live music is often played. The restaurant has a large, raised roof.
Pop’s Sunset Grill offers a varied menu spanning from traditional steaks to seafood-themed dishes. Menu items include flatbread pizza, wood-fired burgers, mouthwatering appetizers, and fresh seafood. Customers can dine on a casual beach front patio or choose to sit in the restaurant.
Pop’s Sunset Grill is located off of the Casey Key Bridge in Nokomis, Florida. The location is spectacular, with a waterfront setting and indoor and outdoor bars. Recent additions to the restaurant include a tiki bar with three levels and a bou-tiki gift shop. The food is plentiful and complemented by beautiful decor.
Venice Fishing Pier
The 700-foot Venice Fishing Pier is an iconic spot for locals and tourists alike. It features a range of amenities including free rod & reel rentals and great views of the sunset. The pier is also a great place to catch some fish without a license. After a long day of sightseeing, visitors can wind down with a relaxing cocktail and some great fresh catch.
The Venice Fishing Pier is open 24 hours a day. It’s free to fish from the pier, and the pier is also home to many fishermen who sleep there at the end of the day. The pier is about 700 feet long and is supported by 64 massive concrete pylons. It’s a popular spot to catch yellowtail, halibut, and more. Anglers who are experienced can also catch barracuda and stingrays.
Located on the south end of Venice Island, the City of Venice Fishing Pier is an excellent place to go fishing. This 700-foot long pier is open twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Whether you’re a local, visiting from out-of-town, or simply visiting for a day trip, the Venice Fishing Pier is a great place to relax and enjoy the sunset.
