If you’re a beginner, consider trying out a free golf course. The Buhl Farm Trust runs a golf course that is completely free to play, and they welcome donations. Locals call it the “Dum Dum” course, and there’s even a children’s program to make it an affordable activity for families.

Fishing

If you’re in the mood for some fishing action, try the town of Buhl. This small town is located on the Laurentian Divide, midway across the historic Mesabi Range. The town is home to the Stubler Beach, a swimming area with a pavilion and fishing dock, as well as the Judson Pits, a stocked trout fishing lake. There’s also a remote portage north of town. You can also visit Burton Park, which has three bocce ball courts, a playground, two baseball fields, restroom facilities, and a pavilion.
