The Sturgis family’s success in making bread inspired other Pennsylvania pretzel bakeries to follow suit. In 1884, the Bachman pretzel bakery was established, and in 1885, the Anderson Pretzel Factory opened in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. After that, Snyder’s of Hanover was established in 1909.
