Wild Rose Fish Hatchery
The Wild Rose Fish Hatchery in Wisconsin was renovated recently, adding to its efficiency in coldwater fish production, stocking, and management. The project replaced aging fish rearing facilities and added a new water supply. It is expected to improve fishing opportunities for the public and restore the fish community.
The water supply at the hatchery comes from a sand and gravel aquifer that is 200 feet deep and deposited by glaciers 15,000 years ago. The hatchery is situated on an aquifer that is capable of delivering water at a rate of about 18 feet per day. This water is discharged to streams, lakes, springs, and flowing wells.
The Wild Rose Fish Hatchery produces around 50 tons of fish each year for the Lake Michigan and Wisconsin region. The hatchery is home to an Education Center that tells the history of Wisconsin’s State Fish Hatcheries. It features two 300-gallon aquariums that showcase 26 different species of fish native to Wisconsin. An upcoming exhibit will feature lake sturgeon.
The Wild Rose Fish Hatchery is a great place for families to take their children for a visit. During the summer months, the Hatchery is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on the weekends. It also offers a variety of educational activities, such as visiting the one-year-old lake sturgeon exhibit.

Apple Creek Trail
Apple Creek Trail is a recreational path that runs between Meade Street and Edgewood Drive in Appleton, Wisconsin. The trail offers breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. The park also has an abandoned amusement park that dates back to the 1920s. The trail offers plenty of hiking and biking opportunities.
This 25-mile-long singletrack offers a variety of biking terrain. It features groves of aspen, shrub oak, and pine trees and includes the Ridge and Beall Trails. From here, you can also access the NPR Trail and the Wild Rose Trail.
Another of the best places to visit in Wild Rose is the Russian River Park. This 3.12-mile-long trail is suitable for children, elderly people, and anyone who prefers a more leisurely pace. The park has picnic areas, horseshoe pits, and two small lakes. It also offers sweeping views of the Santa Rosa plain. The trails are mostly well-defined but some parts are overgrown and difficult to see.
The trail itself is not difficult, but it offers beautiful views of the forest and waterfalls. Despite its scenic location, the trail can be muddy and slippery. The park also has a Visitor’s Center, campgrounds, lodge, and picnic areas. The Big Meadows Area features a large waterfall that can be accessed via a trail that connects the park with Rose River Falls.

Located at 8290 Winnebago County T in Larsen, CHS Larsen Cooperative has a retail store for the community. Besides hardware and farm supplies, this store also offers pet food and grills. Its future plans include a precision ag center.
