The Sugarland Run Stream Valley Park in Herndon was recently refurbished to improve public access to the stream. The $400000 project repaired damage due to flooding and general wear and tear. The trail is now ready for use again, and Phase 2 of the Silver Line will open on Nov. 15th.

Hikers should note that the northern section of the trail is shorter than the central section of the trail. However, if you have time, you can make a side trip to Folly Lick Stream Valley Trail to extend your hike. The northern portion is approximately three miles long and is the perfect length for a family outing.

The trail is mostly level, but some sections are wheelchair accessible and stroller-friendly. Some sections have rocky creek crossings. Concrete pillars provide access, but the stream can be deep and slippery at times. If the water is too high, you’ll have to wait until the water is low enough to cross.
