Hudson River Sky pedestrian walkway
The Hudson River Skywalk is an amazing way to take in the breathtaking views of the Hudson River. It connects two historic sites and is 145 feet above the water. It is open daily from dawn to dusk. It is sponsored by the Empire State Development as part of its “I Love NY” program and is a partnership of the Historic Bridges of the Hudson Valley, the Hudson Tourism Committee, and the Catskill Development Corp.
The Walkway is located north of the Mid-Hudson Bridge. Accessible parking is available on Haviland Road. Pedestrians can also park at the 0.5 mile parking lot. The Walkway is also open to dogs, but there are no shaded areas.
If you like sunsets, you will love this walk. You can also see Lady Liberty and the Brooklyn Bridge from here. There is a free tour from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM and a fee of $10 for the rest of the day. Greene Historical Museum
A trip to the Greene County Historical Museum is an excellent way to learn about the history of the county. Visitors can learn about the history of the Rinehart family, which built their home in the early 1900s, as well as the Martin family. This county was home to US senators and military generals, including one of the first governors of Pennsylvania, Edward Martin.
The Greene County Museum is housed in a beautiful building with a grand staircase and white marble fireplace. Inside, there are 14 exhibit rooms that are dedicated to different aspects of Greene County’s history. Some of these rooms include the Railroad Room, the Timber and Industry Room, the Native American Nook, the Education Room, the Sports Room, the Military Room, and the Children’s Room.
The Greene County Historical Society is located outside of downtown Waynesburg. Many historical societies in Pennsylvania are housed in old Victorian homes. However, the Greene County Historical Society is situated in a building that was once a poor farm. The house was originally built in 1850s as the Rinehart family farmhouse. Later, the building was sold and was used as the Greene Hills Poor Farm.
Another interesting place to visit in Greene is the Greene County Almshouse. This place was established prior to the Civil War as a result of legislation passed by the state. The Greene County Almshouse was also known as the Poor Farm.
Mama’s Boy Burgers
Mama’s Boy Burgers is one of Greene’s best local hangouts. Its beef burgers are made from locally-grown beef. It is also known for its great service. It has been a local favorite for decades.
The owner of the restaurant, Michael Koegel, has a background in the entertainment industry and has also worked in television production. The experience helped him develop his organizational skills. After working in New York City, Koegel decided to relocate to Greene County, PA and opened his own restaurant. Mama’s Boy Burgers serves both locals and visitors with homemade burgers.
The eatery is located in the former Smiley’s Ice Cream. It serves locally-grown grassfed burgers and ice cream. It also has indoor and outdoor seating, and a walk-up ice cream bar. The new business will celebrate its grand opening on May 30. Although it’s only been open for a few weeks, the owner, Michael Koegel, hopes that the locals will flock to his new establishment.
