The Poarch Creek Indian pow wow was held this past Thanksgiving weekend and was a great success. There were 310 dancers registered and an estimated 9,221 people in attendance. It was a family-friendly affair, with several events for both children and adults. The festival’s centerpiece was the crowning of the Poarch Creek Indian Princesses. The event also included traditional dance performances, and a male and female dance competition.
The Poarch Creek Indian pow wow was first held in 1971 and celebrates the homecoming of tribal members. The Poarch Band of Creek Indians was one of the original tribes of the Creek Nation.
