If you love history, Tekamah is a great place to visit. The town is home to the historic E.W. Bryant House, which is on the National Register of Historic Places. The building was once a convent for the mentally challenged. Today, the building is a shopping center. In 1928, a woman named Emma Schmidt was subjected to an exorcism, which lasted 3 weeks. The exorcism took place at the local Franciscan convent, and it was a Roman Catholic Capuchin who worked on her. The building, which later became a shopping center, is known for a variety of strange happenings.
