Penwell is also the site of the Nacero facility that will produce sulfur-free gasoline using domestic natural gas. This plant will use carbon capture and sequestration methods to minimize the amount of greenhouse gas emissions it produces. The Nacero team recently met with local officials and stakeholders in the town of Odessa to discuss their plans.
Penwell is also home to the Penwell Knights Raceway. The race track is home to the 4th Annual Funny Car Chaos Nationals, where a fleet of heads-up outlaw dragsters will battle at 200 miles per hour. Penwell Post Office
Penwell, Texas, is a small town in Ector County. In the late 1920s, the town began thriving after oil and gas exploration. It became an incorporated town in 1930. Its postmaster is Robert Plocheck. You can check out the town’s history at the historical marker along Hwy 80.
The town had an oil boom and a growing pains period, as tents and shacks outnumbered proper homes. There were also gas stations, stores, barbershops, dance halls, and typical boom town rooming houses. However, as the oil boom subsided, the town’s population dropped.
