University of Mary Washington

The University of Mary Washington in Dahlgren is a public, coeducational institution that offers undergraduate and graduate degrees. It is the anchor of educational and research partnerships and serves the business and professional communities in the area. The university is located on the outskirts of the Naval Support Facility Dahlgren. Its Dahlgren campus will host a variety of academic programs for base personnel and regional residents interested in continuing their education.

The Dahlgren Campus is unique among other UMW buildings. It serves as a home for distance learning from other institutions, and is designed to offer an engaging environment to students who do not have access to a faculty member. It features a modular design and a large, open media center. It includes a break-out area and group study areas as well as quiet study areas. The Dahlgren Campus also boasts an environmentally friendly green roof and geothermal heating and cooling.

The Dahlgren campus offers MBA and PM certificate programs. The classes are designed to be flexible and support work/life balance. Students can take five courses over 12 months to earn their degrees. Ralph Bunche High School

During your visit to Dahlgren, you’ll want to check out the Ralph Bunche High School, which was once the center of the Black community in King George County. The gymnasium was where many of the school’s activities took place, and the gym floor is still there, though likely replaced with a new hardwood floor. If you’re in Dahlgren, don’t miss the industrial arts building, which is located next to the high school.

Caledon National Natural Landmark

Dahlgren, VA is a beautiful area with several things to do. It is a National Natural Landmark and has plenty of attractions, including the Boyd’s Hole Trail. The trail winds through rural King George County and offers access to the Potomac River. It is an ideal location for hiking, biking, and bird watching. The park also features bald eagle exhibits and four picnic areas.

The Dahlgren Museum was opened in October 2013. It aims to tell the story of Dahlgren through educational and interpretive programs. There are also several recreation programs that you can join.
