The Maine Coon has an X chromosome which gives the breed its strong red color. However, this trait is not common in the aboriginal breed. This cat is also referred to as a “patterned” color. Another color that the breed has is a solid color known as ns 23.

X chromosome gives a strong red color to a Maine Coon

The color red is almost never inherited by a female Maine Coon. In fact, 90 percent of all red Maine cats are male. This is because the color comes only from the X chromosome, and the Y chromosome does not contribute to a Maine cat’s red color.

While there is some evidence that Skogkatts arrived with the Vikings, their descendants have no affinity to the Maine Coon Cat. However, modern breeders have been interbreeding Maine bobcats with domestic cats in a few isolated events. Despite this, there is no genetic evidence that the Maine Coon Cat is related to the bobcat.

While male Maine Coons can have red and white coloring, it is not genetically possible for them to be calico. Each X chromosome can carry only one pigmentation allele. Male calicos can only be created through genetic anomaly and are therefore rare. But, this doesn’t mean that calico Maine Coons are any less feisty or willful than their red and white counterparts.

Another subtype of X-chromosome-reactive Maine Coon is called tortie. Tortie cats have a red and white color and are classified as tabby. They have a white paw patch on their foot.

Patterned color ns 23 is a macharel tabby

The mackerel tabby is one of the most common tabby breeds. This cat is distinguished by its round or oval spots located all over its body. Most of them are the result of the tiger color, although some multigenes cause a stripe to be torn.

Solid-colored color ns 22

Solid-colored color ns 22 is one of the most widely used colors for logos, signs, and other design projects. This color is the closest match to CMYK in terms of lightness and saturation. If you’re considering using this color for your business’s website or other print materials, it’s essential to follow the color specifications for web applications.
