Heritage Days
Heritage Days in Tallassee, Alabama is an annual festival with a variety of events and activities. It is open to the public and school groups. If you are planning to bring a large group, you will want to make reservations. You can do so online. This year’s festival will feature Civil War reenactments and an arts and crafts show.
Bill Brown was a dedicated Tallassee historian and preservationist who spent 27 years researching the history of the area. He published a number of books and was active with the Talisi Historical Preservation Society. He also helped the community by serving as the society’s historian and museum curator. Among his many contributions, Bill helped preserve the 1860s Micou-Sistrunk-Carr House, and the 1898 Tallassee Mills Superintendent’s home.
The museum features twelve exhibits. The museum also encourages donations of local memorabilia. You can make a donation in memory of a loved one, or donate something related to the area. The Tallassee Museum also accepts donations of old photos, magazines, and memorabilia of the community.
International Motorsports Hall of Fame
Located adjacent to the Talladega Superspeedway, the International Motorsports Hall of Fame honors the great contributions of motorsports. It is an award-winning museum that has been open to the public since 1966. Its museum displays the contributions of many prominent figures in motorsports.
The museum is comprised of three buildings. The Mark III Pavilion is the centerpiece of the complex and features an expansive covered paved courtyard. Other buildings include the Enoch Staley Room and Bill France, Sr. Room. In addition to the Hall of Fame itself, the Hall of Fame also features seven other Halls of Fame.
In addition to the halls of fame, the National Motorsports Hall of Fame features exhibits about motorsports’ history and the people who helped to grow the sport. The museum also includes a research library and gift shop. You can also view over 100 racing vehicles and dozens of display cases filled with memorabilia.
Located in Talladega, Alabama, the International Motorsports Hall of Fame is home to several historic race cars and other motorsports memorabilia. Visitors can learn about the history of the sport and its most influential figures, including Bill France, who served as NASCAR’s president from 1949 to 1972.
A visit to the International Motorsports Hall of Fame is not complete without a stop at the Talladega Raceway. Ticket prices are $15 for the hall and the car show. Children under 12 get in free. Visitors to the town can explore the region’s history by visiting its cemeteries. These include Native American burial grounds and church cemeteries. The Rose Hill Cemetery on the west side of the Tallapoosa River and the Carrville Cemetery in East Tallassee are two of the city’s main cemeteries. You can see the graves of Native Americans and Civil War veterans.

Museums in Tallassee are an excellent place to learn more about the town’s history. Visitors can visit the Tallahassee Automobile Museum (TAM) and view one of the largest collections of antique cars in the United States.
