The museum started out as a private collection of dummies that belonged to a local man. William Shakespeare “W.S.” Berger, who was a member of the International Brotherhood of Ventriloquists, donated his collection to the community. Sadly, he died before his grandson and son could visit the museum, so his son had to start a charitable foundation to continue the museum’s collections. As a result, the Vent Haven Museum was born.
The museum is currently in the process of moving to a larger location. Until that time, the museum is housed in four buildings. Tours are led by museum staff member Sweasy, who customizes the tour to meet the interests of visitors. The museum is a popular stop for visitors during the annual Vent Haven International Ventriloquist Convention.
