Bill Monroe Museum

Bill Monroe was born in Rosine, Tennessee and died there in 1928. He is buried next to his family at the Rosine Cemetery. After his father died, Monroe lived with his uncle, Pen. He was a gifted fiddler. When he died, he played fiddle at the funeral.
Bill Monroe Museum contains many artifacts from his life. You can see the family’s antique furniture, as well as two mandolins made from local timber. You can also see rare photos of him. Beaver Dam State Park
The 750-acre Beaver Dam State Park is located in Macoupin County, Illinois, seven miles southwest of Carlinville. It is managed by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. While you’re at Beaver Dam, consider fishing or boating. You’ll find a variety of species to catch.
Beaver Dam State Park is open all year. The area experiences mild temperatures and variable rainfall, but thunderstorms are likely during the monsoon months in July and August. Summer temperatures average about 93°F, while temperatures drop to 50°F at night and 45°F in winter. This scenic area offers a variety of activities and camping.
For nature lovers, Beaver Dam State Park is a great place to observe birds. The park is home to many species, including turkey and blue heron. There are also reptiles, including Great Basin rattlesnakes, as well as bobcats, squirrels, and mule deer. And occasionally, you can even see mountain lions!
If you want to go hiking in the area, Beaver Dam has four developed hiking trails. The Overlook Trail provides panoramic views of Beaver Dam Canyon and the river. The Overlook Trail connects Campground B to the southern end of Beaver Dam Wash and is a moderate-level hike.
For nature lovers, there is a beautiful waterfall. The falls are surrounded by volcanic rocks. It’s a picturesque setting and can make you feel completely at one with nature. You can also enjoy a quiet camping spot among the trees. You won’t be disturbed by other visitors.
There are trails throughout the park, including a paved road with restrooms. When you visit the park, be sure to pick up a map and ask park rangers about trail conditions. There are picnic tables and barbecue pits in Campground A. There are also bathroom facilities and a turnaround parking area for your vehicle.
Shephard’s Market
Whether you’re looking for unique gifts or local goods, you’ll find a great selection at the Beaver Dam Community Farmers Market. Located on South Main Street, this market features local goods and activities for the entire family. Besides shopping, you’ll find petting zoos, pony rides, and face-painting booths. You can also catch a concert in the amphitheater.
If you love flowers, you’ll love this family-owned florist. Small Town Blooms features seasonal flowers and succulents and offers a wide variety of bouquets. While you’re there, you can also catch a live show at nearby Drifters on Midtown Plaza. There’s a full bar and pool tables, so grab a drink and a band before or after the show.

This museum has been serving the community for 20 years, and you can make a donation to help maintain it.
