Shoup House

The Shoup House is a historic home that was built in 1860. It is located on a 700-acre grant given to John Tipton in 1829. It was later occupied by General David M. Shoup, who served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was awarded the Medal of Honor during World War II. In the 1950s, the house was enlarged with the addition of a garage and an upper porch.

Leroy Rardon died at age 63 on July 27 at the Home Hospital. He was born in Cando, N.D., and had lived most of his life in the Lafayette area. He had previously worked for Hudlow Cleaners in Pittsburgh. He has eight daughters. He was also predeceased by a grandson, Leroy Rardon Jr.
