Ah, summer time! Time for lazing in shorts, short sleeves, and flip-flops. Time for staying cool in the pool. And, when the temperatures rise above 80º, it’s time for drinking natural vitamin water.

Natural Vitamin Water

We all know that we need to drink more water than we do. Our excuses for not doing so are many. The top excuse? “Water is boring.”

As a result, many people drink sports drinks, or corporate-created “vitamin” waters. Companies spend over one billion dollars every year to convince you that their sugar-, sodium-, and chemical-loaded drinks are good for you. Even after being taken to court, companies continue their disingenuous advertising about the health benefits in their “vitamin” waters.

What makes natural vitamin waters so much different? The vitamins, enzymes and minerals in the corporate-created drinks are added into the mix. Nothing is added to natural vitamin waters.

Fresh fruits and vegetables are full of real vitamins. Nothing is added in. Nothing is taken out, and then added in again. For example, fresh ripe strawberries are full of:

• vitamins C, B6, and folate (B9)
• minerals such as phosphorus and manganese
• omega-3 fatty acids

So, if “water is boring” (even though it’s the best hydration for you), do the next best thing: Drink water that you’ve infused with fruit.

You Can Make Natural Vitamin Waters

Natural vitamin waters are easy to make. The ingredients are water, and fresh fruits and/or vegetables. You can add herbs (such as basil or rosemary or lavender). If you’re not used to unsweetened fruit drinks, as is likely at first, go ahead and add a touch of sweetener; try honey or maple syrup.

That’s it. That’s the recipe. Of course, you’ll need a container and a mixing spoon to make the natural vitamin water in. You’ll also need to store it in the refrigerator. But, there’s no artificial anything. This is as natural as it gets.

Natural Vitamin Waters in the Summertime

So, the next time you find yourself thirsty, and you don’t want to drink plain water, pour yourself a tall cold glass of real fruit, natural vitamin waters.

Your body will thank you for it.
