Does Iodized Salt Make You Healthy?
Does iodized salt make you healthy? It’s a question I’ve asked myself on a number of occasions, and I’m sure you have wondered about it, too. I have to confess that I’ve never been able to answer that question.
Well, I think that it’s a good thing to have around. It doesn’t hurt to have one or two things around you, after all.
But then again, is iodized salt really healthy? And what about all those other things that are just labeled “iodized”?
Salt is something that we all need and it’s even more important than that. There are so many different types of salt, and some of them are healthier than others. The best way to decide whether or not you should be taking them is to read the labels on them.
Salt, iodized or not, is good for you. But what do these labels on salt mean?
The first thing that they say is that this product is made with “sodium chloride”. So, it will be bad for you if it doesn’t contain a certain amount of sodium chloride in it.
Some products actually do contain a certain amount of sodium chloride. Others do not. You need to know what percentage of the salt you are consuming actually contains sodium chloride, because there is a difference between bad and good.
So is not having a small amount of sodium chloride a bad thing? In most cases, no.
Another thing that the label says is that it’s “non-iodized”. This means that the salt isn’t simply table salt. Non-iodized salt is salt that has been fortified with iodine.
It’s “non-iodized” even if it’s just regular salt. It’s either iodized or not. A lot of other ingredients are also non-iodized.
The next thing that they say is that this salt is “durable”. That doesn’t mean that it’s going to last forever or be in a condition where it will have to be replaced. It does mean that it has been treated so that it can take an even higher amount of the amount of iodine that we all need daily.
Iodized salt actually offers benefits to your health that are just as much, if not more, than any of the other salt alternatives that are available. They may not be healthy, but they are definitely better for you than anything else that you can get. If you don’t eat them, you won’t get them, but it’s better to have just one or two and take them in addition to eating healthy.
