One of the tenets of the Optimist Creed is to “promise yourself to be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. Despite this, cultivating positive thinking is not that easy and requires hard work. However, the power of positive thinking is immense as there are many things you can activate in your life just by being optimistic. If you are a pessimist and want to change, here are four ways positive thinking can impact your life.

1. Improves your Mood

Want to elevate your mood? Think positive thoughts. In fact, studies have shown that thinking positively, enhances problem solving skills and flexible thinking. Psychologists also believe that pessimists are more likely to suffer from depression and anxiety than people who focused on positive thinking.

2. Attracts Good Things

The law of attraction is activated whenever you think positively. The truth is you get what you expect. If you focus on and expect good things to happen, good things will come to you. The reverse is true for negative thinking.

3. Have more Friends

No one likes a sour puss or anyone that is constantly negative. When you are positive, you radiate a good vibe to others around you. As a result people gravitate to you more easily. Everyone needs a little sunshine in their life and when you are positive, you are the sunshine everyone wants around.

4. Helps You Achieve Your Goals

It was Napoleon Hill, author of Think and Grow Rich that said, “Whatever the mind conceive and believe, it can achieve.” Marcus Garvey also said that, “If you have no confidence in yourself, you are twice defeated. When you think positively, it erases all your fears and inhibitions and makes you feel that everything is possible. If you set a goal and think that you can achieve it- you will. Positive thinking will help you overcome any obstacles that you are likely to experience.

Negative thinking drains your energy. If you want more energy to do things you love, start thinking positively and see the vast difference that it makes.
