It is not a park with picnic tables, campsites, or park rangers, but it is a wonderful place to see the ocean and the windward shoreline. It is a great place to hike or mountain bike and offers breathtaking views.

Laie Hawaii Temple

The Laie Hawaii Temple is a temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on the island of Oahu. The temple is on a hill that sits half a mile from the Pacific Ocean. It is about 35 miles from Honolulu.

The temple is accessible only to members of the Mormon Church. It is a beautiful site and the grounds are adorned with beautiful flowers. A reflection pool is also part of the temple grounds. Although the temple is not open to the general public, the grounds and Visitor Center are free. A tour guide can help you plan your visit and give you more information about the temple.

The Laie Hawaii Temple was designed to be reminiscent of ancient temples in South America. It was the vision of President Joseph F. Smith to build a temple resembling Solomon’s Temple in the scriptures. The temple’s exterior has four large friezes, displaying stories from the Bible and Old Testament. The southern frieze shows stories from the New Testament and the Restoration of the Church by the Prophet Joseph Smith.

The Laie Hawaii Temple is part of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and sits on 11.4 acres. Unlike the Salt Lake Temple, this temple has a different feel and is considered a holy place. It was built in the 1800s and restored in the early 1900s. Visiting the temple is a must for members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The Laie Hawaii Temple is located on the northeast shore of Oahu and was recently renovated. It is close to Brigham Young University Hawaii and the Polynesian Cultural Center. It is the fifth operating temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

This islet is a protected wildlife sanctuary, so visitors need to take note of the rules.

Mokualai Islet Seabird Refuge is located on the South Shore, off the coast of Laie. It is a small coralline islet that reaches only twenty feet in height. Visitors must have a permit to enter the sanctuary, but it is still well worth the trip. Permits are required for subsistence activities and conservation management.

Goat Island is another place to visit in Laie. This 13-acre island is surrounded by coral reefs and protected seabird habitat. You can walk across the island by foot, but you should only do so during low tide. It is best to avoid walking on the coral reef, as this may damage the fragile nesting grounds of the birds.
