Mackinac Island

Another excellent option is to head north to Besser Natural Area. This area is a must-see for nature lovers, and the water here is crystal clear.

The Rockport location has a history of mining. In fact, the mining operations ceased abruptly, leaving a huge pile of limestone on the shore. Today, visitors can explore these piles, but it is recommended to wear sturdy shoes because the rocks are sharp. Another highlight of the site is an eroding pier. Some people decide to swim here, but the water is very deep.

Aloha State Park

If you love to boat and go fishing, you will love Aloha State Park, located on Mullett Lake, south of Cheboygan. It has two sandy beaches and a boat launch. The campground is also close to two swimming beaches. If you have kids with you, there are play areas for them to use. The park also has a basketball court, volleyball court, and horseshoe pits. Pets are allowed, but are expected to be kept on a leash.

While Aloha State Park is popular with tourists, it is also a popular spot for boaters, hikers, and bicyclists. This state park even has designated metal-detecting areas. You can hunt for gold, silver, and other metals in Aloha State Park and Indian Lake State Park.
