Upon departure, each skydiver undergoes a brief pre-flight instruction, which may last up to thirty minutes. Once geared up, skydivers board the plane and are flown up to 14,000 feet. The jump is a freefall that lasts around 60 seconds. After landing, skydivers take a parachute ride that can last for four to seven minutes.
The skydiving center in Ellington has over 100 parachutes available for visitors. It has even hosted a skydiving record-setting event. On April 11, Doug Hendrix, a member of Connecticut Parachutists, is attempting to break his state record of 61 jumps in a day.
